Equality & Diversity

Caistor Yarborough Academy is an inclusive school which puts the care of its students at the front and centre of all it does.  Students are allowed to individuals who are both respected and respectful.

Equality and diversity are important in schools because they help to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and has the same opportunities, regardless of their differences. Diversity is about recognizing and celebrating differences, such as race, gender, religion, disability, and sexual orientation

The Academy has a clear focus in ensuring students are empowered to understand the importance of equality and diversity.  These elements are supported by the School’s values which focus on both Respect and Responsibility.  Through Assemblies, Form Time activities and the PSHE Curriculum, students are able to recognise the importance valuing diversity.

The PSHE Curriculum ensures students develop their understanding of tackling discrimination, harassment and victimisation. They have a clear understanding of British Values and Protected Characteristics and how these should be celebrated and upheld.

Form Tutors and Heads of Year play a crucial role in helping embed the importance of equality and diversity. They, along with wider Academy staff, ensure students can fulfil their opportunities in order to flourish and develop during their time with us.
